1.                Amend the agendato add public participation as Item 3.

Dr. Cook made a motion.  Odie Hughesseconded the motion.The motion passedwith unanimous approval.

Y Ms. Mitchell, Y Dr. Williams,Y President Kates.

 

2.                Approval of Minutes of Regular Board Meeting -September28, 2023. Dr. Williams made a motion. Ms. Mitchell seconded the motion. The motion passed with unanimous approval.

*        Roniqua Watkins made a public response.

 

3.                 Public Participation

Patricia Keller.  Mrs. Keller had an experience at BHS where a parent came in outrage, but the BHS staff was very professional in addressing the parent's concernand appeasing the parent. BHS staff did a very good job.

 

Roniqua Watkins. Mrs. Watkins stated the board fails to make proper motions during meetings and follow Robert's Rules of Order properly.

 

Dee Dee McCullough. Mrs. McCullough, Principal at Northshore Charter School, is concerned about purchasing Pleasant Hill for Northshore Charter School.

 

*Gloria Kates. Mrs. Kates, Bogalusa City Council District A, welcomed Superintendent Dr. Byron Hurst to Bogalusa and said she heard he had done wonderful things.

 

4.                Supervisor Reports:

a.                Human Resources - Karla McGehee.

1.                Personnel

2.                Approval of the Personnel Evaluation Plan/JobDescriptions. Curtis Creel made a motion. Dr. Williams seconded the motion. The motion passed with unanimous approval.

b.               Finances & Business -Deloris Walker

1.                Approval of September 2023 Financial Statements and Revised Budgets: General Fund, Food Service, Special Revenue, and School Activities.

2.                Approval of declaring the 915 Tacoma Street property as surplus.

3.                Approval of advertising the sale of Long Avenue School, Columbia Street School, Superior Avenue School, Pleasant Hill School, Denhamtown, and Canning Unit Avenue J Property.

 

*                    Dr. Cook made a motion. Odie Hughes seconded the motion. The motion passed with unanimous approval.

*                     Roniqua Watkins made a publicresponse.

 

5.                    Superintendent -Dr. Byron Hurst.

*                             Excited to be a part of the Bogalusa SchoolSystem and the Board.

*                            October 26, 2023, marks the 100th Day as superintendent and he has done many wonderful things with the help of the wonderful staff.

*                             We have encountered many changes in the first 100 days such as in academics, infrastructure and facilities, safety, and leadership.

*                             We will continueto improve in everyclassroom, campus, department, and system. We have a lot of dedicated staff who want the best for students and are willing to invest in them.

*                             Thank you for your willingness to accept change, be part of the change,and guide the change.

*                             Together, we will rise to the occasionand make BCS one of the best school systems in Louisiana.
