The Bogalusa School Board met in a Regular Board Meeting at the Bogalusa City School Board Office Media Center, located at 1705 Sullivan Drive, Bogalusa, Louisiana, on Thursday, January 26, 2023. The purpose of the meeting is to address information received from Department Supervisors, on Monday, January 23, 2023 during the Committee Meeting, regarding updates and approval requests.

Prayer – Dr. Laverne Cook

 

Roll Call:  X President Kates,  X Vice President Creel,  XA Mrs. Breaux,  X Dr. Cook,  X  Mr. Hughes, X Mr. Killingsworth,  X Dr. Williams

 

1.)       Approval of Minutes of Regular Board Meeting December, 2022.  It was motioned by Mr. Creel. A second was made by Ms. Mitchell. No public comments. The motion passed with unanimous approval.

 

2.)       Board Office Committee Reports – None

 

3.)       Public Session – President Kates invited everyone out to the BHS Coach Gary Magee Track Dedication to be held on Friday, February 17, 2023 @ 1:30 p.m.

 

4.)       New Business-

a.     Approval to elect 2023 Bogalusa School Board Officers, President and Vice President. Mr. Creel nominated Mr. Kates for President.  A second was made by Dr. Williams. A Roll Call Vote followed:

Dr. Williams nominated Mr. Creel for Vice President.  A second was made by Mr. Kates.  A Roll Call Vote followed:

Dr. Williams thanked the board for putting these two dedicated board members back in place to carry on with their hard work.  They both work many hours above and beyond.  Ms. Breaux stated that she partially agreed but thinks it is not right to not give others a chance.  Mr. Hughes agreed with Dr. Williams and said their record proves they are right for the positions.

 

4.)       New Business - Continued

b.    Approval of 2022 – 2023 Pupil Progression Plan Charmaine Reeves It was motioned by Dr. Williams. A second was made by Dr. Cook. No public comments. The motion passed with unanimous approval.

c.     Approval of December, 2022 Financial Statements, Revised Budgets, General Fund, Food Service, Special Revenue and School Activities. Deloris Walker It was motioned by Mr. Hughes. A second was made by Ms. Creel. No public comments. The motion passed with unanimous approval.

d.    Approval to distribute 12 Mills checks to all full time employees Deloris Walker It was motioned by Mr. Creel. A second was made by Ms. Mitchell. No public comments. The motion passed with unanimous approval.

e.     Superintendent Tanner presented School Board Member Appreciation Month – Resolution

f.      Superintendent Tanner presented School Board Member Training Resolution It was motioned by Dr. Williams. A second was made by Mr. Creel. No public comments. The motion followed with a Roll Call Vote. Motion passed with unanimous approval.

5.)       Superintendent Tanner Comments – Thanked everyone for coming.

 

 

6.)       Board Comments – Ms. Breaux requested an Executive Session to discuss the legal issue “Ants in food” at BHS. It was motioned by Mr. Creel.  A second was made by Mr. Hughes.  The motion passed with unanimous approval.  The board members returned to Media Center at 6:50 p.m.  Mr. Creel made a motion to reconvene.  A second was made by Dr. Cook.  No public comments.  The motion passed with unanimous approval.
