The Bogalusa School Board met in a Regular Board Meeting at the Bogalusa City School Board Office Media Center, located at 1705 Sullivan Drive, Bogalusa, Louisiana, on Monday, December 12, 2022. The purpose of the meeting is to address information received from Department Supervisors, on Monday, December 12, 2022, during the Committee Meeting, regarding updates and approval requests.

Roll Call: X President Kates, X Vice President Creel, A Mrs. Breaux, X Mrs. Duke, A Mr. Kemp, A Mr. Killingsworth, X Dr. Williams
1.) Approval of Minutes of Regular Board Meeting October, 2022. It was motioned by Dr. Williams. A second was made by Mr. Creel. No public comments. The motion passed with unanimous approval.
2.) Board Office Committee Reports – None
3.) Recognition of departing Board Members- Mrs. Eleanor Duke 20 years, Mr. Adam Kemp 16 years and Ricky Killingsworth 4 years.
4.) Public Session – None
5.) New Business-
a. Approval of Addendum to Schultz Physical Therapy 2022 – 2023 contract for monthly invoice to included detail of services provided for students by code and unit. It was motioned by Mr. Kemp. A second was made by Mrs. Duke. No public comments. The motion passed with unanimous approval.
b. Approval of November, 2022 Financial Statements, Revised Budgets, General Fund, Food Service, Special Revenue and School Activities. It was motioned by Mrs. Duke. A second was made by Mr. Kemp. No public comments. The motion passed with unanimous approval.
c. Approval of Forethought Policy IDDFC – Cameras in Special Education Classrooms. It was motioned by Mrs. Duke. A second was made by Mr. Creel. No public comments. The motion passed with unanimous approval.
6.) Superintendent Tanner Comments – Thanked Mrs. Duke, Mr. Kemp and Mr. Killingsworth again for their years of service as Bogalusa City Schools School Board Members. Superintendent went straight into speaking about seeing and communicating with the Taylor family and actions that are being taken at BHS to assist with the emotional issues the students and employees may be experiencing from this tragedy in our community over the weekend. I am looking into reaching out to continue improving security steps in protecting our schools. I am also going to be working with community advocacy groups and community organizations to work in getting them more involved. She would also like to implement a data night for schools and scores. Closing, she let everyone know our January Committee Meeting will be held Monday, January 23, 2023 @ 5:30 p.m. and Board Meeting will be held Thursday, January 26, 2023 @ 5:30 p.m.
7.) Board Comments –Mrs. Duke thanked everyone for supporting her all these years and said it’s been fun most of the time. Mr. Killingsworth thanked everyone for supporting him and said we better have someone in mind because replacing Mrs. Walker when she retires will be a task. Mr. Kemp wished everyone a Merry Christmas thanked Mrs. Walker for all of her help throughout the years and thank Lois Adams for all she had done for him as the board secretary. Dr. Williams thanked the exiting board members for all their work and helping him through the years. Mr. Creel thanked everyone. President Kates thanked everyone for coming and let everyone know he knows we have internal problems and we have a lot to do but feels we are headed in the right direction. He wishes everyone to be educated and treated fairly. Thanked the exiting board members and let them know he enjoyed working with them.
