The Bogalusa School Board met in a Regular Board Meeting at the Bogalusa City School Board Office Media Center, located at 1705 Sullivan Drive, Bogalusa, Louisiana, on Monday, June 27, 2022. The purpose of the meeting is to address information received from Department Supervisors, on Monday, June 27, 2022, during the Committee Meeting, regarding updates and approval requests.

Roll Call: X President Kates, A Vice President Creel, X Mrs. Breaux, X Mrs. Duke, X Mr. Kemp, X Mr. Killingsworth, X Dr. Williams
1.) Approval of Minutes of Regular Board May 23, 2022. It was motioned by Dr. Williams. A second was made by Mr. Killingsworth. The motion passed with unanimous approval.
2.) Board Office Committee Report – Mr. McKinley gave his construction update for the following: BHS Gym HVAC, BHS Classrooms: Heating & Air, Byrd Avenue Roof, Central Elementary Auditorium HVAC, Central Elementary Roof, & BHS Track.
3.) Public Session – None
4.) New Business
a. Approval of May, 2022 Revised Budgets, Financial Statements, General Fund, Food Service, Special Revenue and School Activities. It was motioned by Mr. Kemp. A second was made by Mrs. Duke. The motion passed with unanimous approval.
b. Approval of 2022 – 2023 property insurance (LARMA) - Bill McGehee Insurance. It was motioned by Mr. Killingsworth. A second was made by Mr. Kemp. The motion passed with unanimous approval.
c. Approval of $1500 professional and $750.00 support staff across the board raise effective 7/1/22 for all full time employees. It was motioned by Mr. Kemp. A second was made by Mr. Killingsworth. The motion passed with unanimous approval.
5.) Superintendent Comments – Made all of her comments in Committee Meeting.
6.) Board Member Comments – Ms. Breaux asked if there were going to be any dress code changes at the schools. She said she had received calls about no hoodies. Superintendent Tanner said BHS does not want any hoodies on heads once on campus. Superintendent said that they were weighing out everything and agrees about no hoodies on heads once on campus. She understands the community can’t afford to go and purchase new jackets without hoodies. Staff is going to be held accountable to making sure students follow the dress code. Principal and Asst. Principal meetings are being held to discuss how we need to make it easier not harder. The culture between faculty and students has got to change. Accountability for all. Mrs. Duke asked if there would be an SRO officer on campus. Superintendent said she had been in touch with BPD and they do not have the man power. Policy and procedures are being worked on to insure the safety of the students and staff due to the current culture of school shootings.
