Regular Board Meeting

The Bogalusa School Board met in a Regular Board Meeting at the Bogalusa City School Board Office Media Center, located at 1705 Sullivan Drive, Bogalusa, Louisiana, on June 24, 2021. The purpose of the meeting is to address information received from Department Supervisors, on June 21, 2021, during the Committee Meeting, regarding updates and approval requests.

 

1.)       Call to Order – President Paul Kates

 

2.)       Pledge of Allegiance – Superintendent Lisa Tanner

 

3.)       Prayer – Dr. H. Brad Williams

 

4.)       Roll Call:  X President Kates,  A Vice President Creel,  A Mrs. Breaux,  X Mrs. Duke, X  Mr. Kemp, A Mr. Killingsworth,  X  Dr. Williams

 

5.)       Approval of Minutes of Regular Board Meeting May, 27, 2021. It was motioned by Dr. Williams. A second was made by Mr. Kemp. The motion passed with unanimous approval.

 

6.)       Board Office Committee Report – None

 

7.)         Public Session –  

a.     Frankie Crosby - District 8, Washington Parish School Board Member wanted to introduce himself and come see how we conduct our school board meetings and to let everyone know we are all in the same business of educating children and we need to all work together.

 

8.)       New Business

a.     Approval to advertise for Bogalusa High School Gymnasium “A: HVAC installation. It was motioned by Mr. Kemp. A second was made by Mrs. Duke. The motion passed with unanimous approval.

b.    Approval of Resolution calling a Special Election to be held November 13, 2021 to authorize the levy of Ad Valorem Taxes. It was motioned by Mr. Kemp. A second was made by Mrs. Duke. The motion passed with unanimous approval. 

Roll call vote as follows:  A Vice President Creel,    A Mrs. Breaux, Y Mrs. Duke, Y Mr. Kemp, A Mr. Killingsworth,  Dr. Williams, Y President Kates, 

c.     Approval of Property Insurance 2021-2022 fiscal year, Bill McGehee Insurance. It was motioned by Mr. Kemp. A second was made by Dr. Williams. The motion passed with unanimous approval.

d.     Approval of Revised Budgets and Financial Statements May, 2021 General Fund, Food Services, Special Revenue and School Activities. It was motioned by Mrs. Duke. A second was made by Mr. Kemp The motion passed with unanimous approval.

e.     Approval of Federal Program Copier Lease, Konica Minolta. It was motioned by Dr. Williams. A second was made by Mr. Kemp. The motion passed with unanimous approval.

f.      Approval for School Board members – Adam Kemp, Ricky Killingsworth & Curtis Creel to travel out of state to LSBA Southern Region Leadership Conference to be held at the Beau Rivage, Biloxi, Mississippi July 18th – 20th, 2021. It was motioned by Mr. Kemp. A second was made by Mrs. Duke. The motion passed with unanimous approval.

g.     Approval for Board Members, Superintendent, Supervisors and Principals to travel to Running Creek Ranch, White Sands, MS in July. It was motioned by Mr. Kemp. A second was made by Mrs. Duke. The motion passed with unanimous approval.

h.     Approval for Central Elementary to travel to Gulfport, Mississippi on June 24, 2021 to take Summer Field Trip to the Gulfarium.  It was motioned by Dr. Williams. A second was made by Mr. Kemp. The motion passed with unanimous approval.

 

8.)         Superintendent Comments- Superintendent Tanner wanted everyone to know that the Summer School is finishing up and it seems to have been a success.  She expressed her gratitude for the great job Jump Start Summer has gone and thanked Mrs. Jones, Mr. Magee & Mr. Davis for working so well with the students.  All 21 students passed the industry based tests and received their Carnegie credits and their ____________________________________________________________________________.
