9.) Superintendent Tanner Comments – Thanked everyone for joining in on the Zoom meeting. She informed everyone that there will be a Principal/Supervisors Zoom meeting on Tuesday, April 28, 2020. BHS held meetings with all seniors & parents today to discuss GPA’s and to pick up Cap & Gowns. Virtual Graduation will be held July 9, 2020. Superintendent has masks to distribute to all employees and board members. Spring pictures are being given out at Byrd. Virtual Graduation for Pre-K students will be held in June. All principals have called all children to check on them and to find out who has access to the internet. 52% do 48% do not. I will be participating in a Cares Act webinar on Thursday to discuss percentage of what we should be receiving from this. Amount should be somewhere around 70% of what we usually receive for us, Charter & Private schools. Feeding program is going well. Next week we will begin giving 3 meals on Monday and 4 meals on Thursday. We are in the process of mailing report cards & Taylor awards. I have many concerns moving forward, Internet access and resources on website are not being utilized. All parents have been notified by Jcalls, Website and letters have been sent to each home. We are working on getting devices so we can meet with each grade teacher to meet their needs so teachers can teach virtually and understand how it is to be done. We will be sanitizing and stripping all floors at each school as well as the board office. As for as how we move forward this summer we will be adjusting school calendar and trying to get broadband and hot spots so students can use their cell phones. I have been on multiple webinars daily, participating in WBOX, putting letters on website and working hard to make sure our information is getting out to all of our children and parents. We are meeting and working on ways to motivate the children to go back to learning, looking how to close out this year and open up next year. Mrs. McGehee and I have been working on who will be returning next year, where teachers are in getting their certifications, and finding ways to filter our devices so students and outside sources cannot access private sections of our network. Tracking devices will be put on all computer devices that will be going home with the children. We must make sure all of this is in place before distributing any devices. We are working on PD for teachers to learn long distance learning and all will come through Title Fund, from the Cares Acts. We will need to be ready for whatever this fall may need. Custodians are continuing to mow grass once a week at all schools. BHS looks really good and work on the tree and parking area at Byrd is complete.
11.) Board Comments - Mrs. Duke wished everyone the best. Mr. Kemp thanked Superintendent Tanner and all employees who are working to feed the children and to get everything in place to continue to educate our children. Mr. Kates thanked Superintendent Tanner for her work and all work the employees have been doing for the best interest of continuing to educate our children.
12.) Meeting adjourned at 6:34 p.m.
