Emergency Board Meeting

The Bogalusa School Board held an Emergency Board Meeting at the Bogalusa City School Board Office Media Center, located at 1705 Sullivan Drive, Bogalusa, Louisiana, on March 16, 2020. The purpose of the meeting is to address information regarding CoVid-19.

 

1.)         Call to Order – President Paul Kates

 

2.)         Pledge of Allegiance – Superintendent Lisa Tanner

 

3.)         Prayer – Willie “Toni” Breaux

 

4.)         Roll Call:  X President Kates, X Vice President Killingsworth, _X_ Mrs. Breaux, X Mr. Creel, X Mrs. Duke,   X Mr. Kemp,   X  Dr. Williams

 

5.)         Executive Session - Resolution of the Bogalusa City School Board declaring and recognizing a State of Emergency; delegating special emergency authority to the Superintendent; and to provide for related matters.  It was motioned by Mr. Killingworth.  A second was made by Mrs. Duke. The motion passed with unanimous approval.

6.)         Superintendent Tanner addressed how the food and nutrition program would provide nutrition to all children 18 years and younger in Ward 4. She addressed MFP, Reimbursements, CCAP, LA4, TANF, SPED requirements, Distance Education Requirements, Internet Access, Assessment and Accountability, Employees work schedules and sports and practices.    It was motioned by Dr. Killingworth.  A second was made by Mr.Creel to allow Superintendent Tanner to continue making decisions appropriate to meet the students, staff and families of the BCS system. The motion passed with unanimous approval. 

 

7.)         Board Comments – President Creel reported that Superintendent Tanner had met with all Principals & Supervisors and let them know about what is going on with CoVid-19.  Everyone wished everyone good luck and good health in the upcoming trying times.  Dr. Williams asked about the Ag building and requested we get an appraisal because he knew someone was interested in purchasing that property.

 

8.)         Requested to cancel March, 2020 Board Meeting   It was motioned by Mr. Creel.  A second was made by Mrs. Breaux The motion passed with unanimous approval.
