Proceedings of the Bogalusa School Board taken at the Regular Meeting that was held on Thursday, October 25, 2018.

 

The Bogalusa School Board met in a Regular Board Meeting at the Bogalusa City School Board Office Media Center, located at 1705 Sullivan Drive, Bogalusa, Louisiana, on October 25, 2018. The purpose of the meeting is to address information received from Department Supervisors, on October 25, 2018, during the Committee Meeting, regarding updates and approval requests.

 

1.)         Call to Order – Vice President Kates

 

2.)         Pledge of Allegiance – Superintendent Lisa Tanner

 

3.)         Prayer – Dr. H. Brad Williams

 

4.)         Roll Call:  X 5:25 President Creel, X Vice President Kates, X Mrs. Duke, A Mr. Hymel, X Mr. Kemp,

                                A Rev. Mims, X Dr. Williams

 

5.)         Approval of Minutes of Regular Board Meeting September 27, 2018. It was motioned by Dr. Williams. A second was made by Mr. Kemp. The motion passed with unanimous approval.

 

6.)         Board Officers and Committee Reports – NONE

 

7.)         Public Session – Henry Harrison, LSU AG Center, 1134 Bene St # 3, Franklinton, LA 70438 –Discussion regarding adding a 1/3 salaried position to be paid by 1/3 Bogalusa Schools, 1/3 Washington Parish Schools, and 1/3 LSU Ag.  4H will get 40% of the services and Ag will get 60 % of the services.  This will be presented and voted on in the November, 2018 Board Meeting

 

8.)         New Business

a.      Approval of September, 2018, Financial Statements, General Fund, Food Service, Special Revenue and School Activities. It was motioned by Mr. Kemp.  A second was made by Vice President Kates.  The motion passed with unanimous approval.

b.      Approval of 2018 Louisiana Compliance Questionnaire for Audit Engagement of Governments. It was motioned by Dr. Williams.  A second was made by Mrs. Duke.  The motion passed with unanimous approval.

c.      Approval to grant permission to issue Sales Tax Excess Checks to all full time employees on November 2, 2018. It was motioned by Dr. Williams.  A second was made by Mr. Kemp.  The motion passed with unanimous approval.

d.      Approval of Forethought Consulting, Inc. Policy Update 2018: IFBGA Student Computer Access and Use, JCDAF Bullying and Hazing, and JCDAG Threats of Terrorism and Violence. It was motioned by Mr. Kemp.  A second was made by Mrs. Duke.  The motion passed with unanimous approval.

e.      Approval of Forethought Consulting, Inc. Policy Update October, 2018: IHAD, Parent Conferences, JGCE, Child Abuse, JR, Student Records. It was motioned by Dr. Williams.  A second was made by Mrs. Duke.  The motion passed with unanimous approval.

 

9.)         Superintendent CommentsAnnounced that SRO for BHS was in place and going well. She also stated that Debbie Jenkins had returned from her leave and that school performance scores would be coming out November 8 and the new changes for school performances scores will be transparent. 245 seats were repaired over the fair holidays and the 97 that had already been covered in black were moved to the back of the auditorium.  The Davis’ will return during the Thanksgiving holidays to begin another round of seat covering.  The Washington Parish Bogalusa Schools Consolidation Committee Mtg. was held and there were discussions

regarding the Consent Decree being lifted before anything more could be done.  The next meeting will be held Monday, November 26, 2018 at BHS Library beginning at 5:30 p.m. 

 

10.)      Board Members Comments – Mr. Creel has a few questions regarding the STEM program and Mr. Kemp wished all the candidates good luck in their upcoming elections.  November Committee & Board Meetings will be held Thursday, November, 29, 2018 beginning at 5:00 p.m. and the December Committee & Board Meetings will be held Monday, December 17, 2018 beginning at 5:00 p.m.
