The motion was carried 5-2 in favor of Mrs. Louise Smith as Superintendent of Bogalusa City School District.
President Kates stated, ”At this time, we will say that Mrs. Louise Smith won the Superintendent Job. I was in favor of Mr. Jackson because I felt that he was a better leader; but everybody has their own opinion about when they interview and who they judge. So, I feel that we have Mrs. Louise Smith now so we have to work with her; and we have to start moving this system forward. That’s the consensus of the Board. Mrs. Louise Smith is our Superintendent,” concluded President Kates.
Statement from Dr. Williams-”We are just going to have to; the best we can, let the children know that we care about them; and know what the value of having a good education is.”
Statement from Mrs. Duke-”And I’d like to say that I have appreciated working with this School Board. We have dealt with this for the last four weeks, I guess. We have read everything; we have contacted; and I think a lot of research has gone into finding a Superintendent. I think Mr. Jackson would have been as good as Mrs. Smith; I don’t know; but we shall see,” concluded Mrs. Duke.
At this point President Kates asked if there were any further comments. There were none. The meeting was adjourned.
6.) Adjourn
There being no further comments or business to address, President Kates adjourned at 5:40P.M.
