7.             Superintendent Comments-Ruth A. Horne

"I have a couple of things.  I put two (2) emails in your folders, please be sure you read these.  One of them or maybe both of them are for the New Board Members, that’s going to be held at the LSBA Workshop in Marksville, and I believe it’s mandatory if I’m not mistaken."

"The second thing is, Mr. Kates as President of the Board I would like for you to appoint a committee for Buildings and Grounds.   We have some issues we need to address in terms of buildings and grounds; so if you could do that for me tonight, I would appreciate it."

Statement from President Kates-"First, of all I would like to thank all of my Board Members for having faith in me; and I want to thank Mr. Kemp for nominating me. I know our system have been in trouble but I feel now that we are on the right move and we’re going forward.  I know the biggest problem in our community is parenting; and I know that we have to reach out to try to touch these parents and try to turn our system around totally and get it back to where it was when I was a child in school, so we will have discipline in our school; and everybody will be accountable for what they are doing; from the Board on down to the custodians in the schools.  So it’s time for us to move this system forward and we all be accountable; and try to hire the best teachers to teach our children; and try to reach these parents to ask them to teach  their kids how to come to school and behave; and for them to apply themselves to learn, because Bogalusa is a good place.  I think that’s where we need to go; and I believe we will be moving forward."

"For Buildings and Grounds Committee, do I have any volunteers?  I have Mr. Creel, Mr. Hymel and Reverend Mims" concluded President Kates.  All appointees were accepted unanimously

Next, President Kates called for Board Members Comments.

8.)           Board Members Comments

Dr. Brad Williams- "I would like to thank the President and Vice President for taking on this challenge, when they were nominated.  Thank you."

Mrs. Eleanor Duke- "We do look forward to working together.  This is a hard working Board."

President Paul Kates- "Also, I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year."

President Kates asked if there were any more comments.  There were none; and President Kates adjourned.

9.)           Adjourn

There being no further comments or business to address, President Kates adjourned at 5:45P.M.
